BEAUTY TALK: Backstage at Blugirl S/S 2016 Fashion Show

Blugirl SS16Blugirl, for next Summer 2016, takes us in the hot atmospheres of Mexico. Mexican women are strong and, at the same time, sexy. The worldwide renowed make-up artist Val Garland, key artist for MAC Cosmetics, decided to celebrate Mexican beauty creating a bronzing, glowing make-up look, all based on the warmest tones.

Blugirl SS16She used creamy textures only, because powder products are less natural, less fresh and you can’t achieve that dewy, youthful look with them. So, the chosen product is Cream Colour Base in Mid-tone Sepia and Pearl to create lights and shadows. A simple, summery look that you can re-create using your bare hands and a couple of creamy, multi-purpose products: peachy tones for the eyes, cheeks and lips and a bronze colour to contour the temples, under the cheekbones and along the chin, in order to fake a tan but in a natural way.Blugirl SS16

Don’t forget to use a highlighter as well, otherwise there isn’t enough contrast and your bronzing make-up will appear flat and ageing.

Blugirl SS16For this look, Val Garland used a Pro product, called Mixing Medium Shine, to add an extra shine to the cheekbones in order to achieve a glossy, youthful look. It can be used on its own or mixed with other cream or powder products. Eyebrows are essential to frame the eyes and to give more power to this look, so they are kept bushy and well defined with Brow Set gel.Blugirl SS16

The hair styling is by the talented hair stylist James Pecis. He wanted to express the soul of Mexican woman that is so tough.

To do so, he created two different looks: one is super clean and perfect with hair parted at the centre, then it end with a super straight ponytail. The other one is extremely easy and natural with a lot of wild, wavy locks.
